We all hear people complain about how the book was better than the movie. However, there are some books that have been artfully adapted into films.
Here are five recommended movies that have been adapted from books:
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile
Bernard Waber’s delightful book about an attic-dwelling, singing crocodile is brought to life with exquisite live-action animation. Singer/songwriter Shawn Mendes voices Lyle, which is reason enough to check out this film.

Where the Crawdads Sing
Where the Crawdads Sing sticks closely to the book, and follows a young woman accused of murdering her lover. The film was produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and 3000 Pictures, and promises to satisfy lovers of the best-selling novel.

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway
Beatrix Potter’s characters are back for another adventure in Peter Rabbit 2. While the film doesn’t stick strictly to Potter’s books, the 3D animation is superb, making it a must for established and new fans alike.

After Ever Happy
With a director that has read every single book in the After series, this film was made with fans in mind. After Ever Happy is the fourth in the series, and stays true to the books.

The Tiger Rising
If a cast including Queen Latifah and Dennis Quaid is not enough to convince you to get your popcorn and enjoy this movie, the on-screen telling of this award-winning novel certainly will. The film is based on the children’s book of the same name, and has only tweaked the original story ever so slightly, while keeping the main storyline intact.

With such a wide range of book-based films, it’s a case of being spoiled for choice. Whether you’ve read the books or not, though, these movies promise to deliver the goods to dedicated filmgoers, too.
